• WHO buys at the Livestock Sale?

People like you! Anyone interested in supporting youth in 4-H or FFA and having an appreciation for top quality, locally raised beef, pork, lamb, goat, rabbit, chicken and turkey for their freezer.

  • WHY buy at the Livestock Sale?

To invest in the future of agriculture through youth by supporting the educational experience in selecting, feeding and marketing the finished product.

  • HOW do you buy at the Livestock Sale?

First, REGISTER as a buyer. Registration paperwork is available at the auction site just prior to the auction.

Second, BID on the animals you would like to purchase. Once you win the bid you have 2 options:

Option 1 - Purchase the animal outright. An animal may be purchased by more than one individual or business if you wish to split an animal. The buyers must make their own arrangements to do this and bid as one entity. Purchases are made on live weight. All processing costs are in addition to the purchase price and are figured on hanging weight of carcass. Cost will also include slaughter fees to be posted the night of the sale. Rabbits and Poultry do not have slaughter arrangements made.

Option 2 - Turn the purchased animal. You pay a support, or floor, price and "Turn", or resell, the animal to the commercial buyer. Floor prices are established and posted at the Market Sale. For example - you bid $1/lb on a 220 lb hog. Floor price is $0.40/lb. Total cost is $220.00. Commercial Buyer pays $0.40/lb or $88.00 and Bidder pays remaining $0.60/lb or $132.00.

  • Can I support the programs without buying an animal?

Of course! If you do not want to purchase an entire animal, you may support an exhibitor by completing the Add-On form for whatever amount you choose and mail it to the Market Committee at PO Box 1523, Castle Rock, WA 98611.

You may also fill out an Add-On form while attending the auction.
